TC CANDIDATE CAMPAIGN FUNDS REACH THOUSANDS

As the Township Committee election heads from the primaries to the general election, both Democrat Frank McGehee and Republican Mike Summersgill are raising and spending in the thousands.

State primary election financial disclosure reports, which were due June 27, indicate Summersgill has raised and spent $4,031.49, while McGehee raised $3,804.00 and spent $1,579.65 so far.

But the top donations to both candidates came from themselves.

We had previously reported that McGehee had loaned himself  $499.00 and received $1,000 from former Mayor Fred Profeta.

The most recent reports revealed McGehee had loaned himself an additional $500, while receiving $685 from Township Committee Member Greg Lembrich. He also received $500 from Arthur Bell of Chicago, a childhood friend.

Summersgill, meanwhile, has loaned and donated a combined $2,500 of his own money to his campaign, with the remainder of his donations coming through contributions of less than $300 each that do not have to be itemized. McGehee reported $605 in contributions of less than $300 each.

Both men are running for the TC seat currently held by Marlon Brownlee, who is not seeking re-election.

McGehee reported spending most of his money on a campaign event and lawn signs, noting $1,257.26 on the signs and $352.50 on event refreshments.

Summersgill, meanwhile, spent $500 on his logo design and $861 on promotional towels. He also spent $830 to rent The Woodland for an event, with another $278 on event insurance.
