BIG PARKING AND ROAD CLOSURES SPARK VILLAGE, VALLEY STREET DELAYS

Parking and travel through Maplewood Village is more difficult than ever today as construction on the new sewer line behind the shops at 168-172 Maplewood Avenue continues.

But it's now blocking traffic along Baker Street from entering the short area under the train tracks between Dunnell Road and Maplewood Avenue. It is also blocking street parking access along the side of Arturo's.

This is in addition to the lost parking in the lot itself and the spaces around the former post office site for construction of the new retail/housing complex there.

In an unrelated move, Valley Street is also being cut off in part due to the New Jersey American Water Company upgrades there. And all of this on the second day of a new school year.

See the related police department notices below:

Baker St. Closed between Maplewood Ave. and Dunnell Rd. due to Construction. between 9/6/16 (Tuesday) to 9/9/16 (Friday). Parking Lot 7 (Maplewood Ave. and Baker St.) will be partially closed on the above listed dates. Plan for alternate routes and parking. See Township Web Page for further details</

Valley St. will be under construction today from Baker St. to Millburn Ave. Plan travel routes accordingly and expect sporadic delays.
