BULLYING COMPLAINT AGAINST CHS BASEBALL COACH TO BE HEARD IN NOVEMBER

While the school district has apparently chosen not to re-appoint troubled Columbia High School baseball coach Joe Fischetti after several accusations of bullying by former players, the legal tangles over the issue are not done yet.

In addition to the lawsuit by former player David DeFranco, there is an upcoming administrative law hearing related to a complaint filed with the state Department of Education over the alleged bullying and the response by the school district.

That complaint comes from Randy Nathan, whose son, Alex, played for Fischetti and was allegedly benched after Nathan sought to raise issues of bullying against other players.

Nathan filed the complaint in April. A hearing in Newark before an administrative law judge is set for November17.

Nathan also said he is meeting with the school board on Monday in closed session to present his latest complaint that some of his allegations were not properly reviewed.
