THREE SOMA SCHOOLS REMAIN ON STATE PROFICIENCY GAP LIST

As students return to school this week, a recent state report indicates three of our schools remain on the "focus" list of schools in need of improvement.

Those include Maplewood Middle School, South Orange Middle School and Clinton School. See the list, issued in July, HERE.

The state designations define a focus school as "a school that has room for improvement in areas that are specific to the school."

The list states these schools are designated as having "within school gaps." That is defined as:

Schools with the largest in school proficiency gap between the highest-performing subgroup and the combined proficiency of the two lowest-performing subgroups. Schools in this category have a proficiency gap between these subgroups of 43.5 percentage points or higher.
