THREE FORMER MAYORS ENDORSE MCGEHEE, BUT ONE MISSING?

Frank McGehee
Three veteran Maplewood mayors, including two who are known political rivals, have joined together to endorse Democrat Frank McGehee for Township Committee.

McGehee, the Democratic nominee, is facing Republican nominee Mike Summersgill in the Nov. 8 election for the lone open seat on the five-member Township Committee.

Former Committeeman Marlon Brownlee held the seat until his resignation in August. The TC appointed former TC member Ian Grodman to serve the remainder of the term through the end of 2016.

Vic Deluca
The McGehee campaign released three endorsement letters from Mayor Vic Deluca, who has been in the top post since 2009, and former mayors Fred Profeta, who served 2004 to 2008, and Ellen Davenport, who was mayor from 1994 to 1997. All three are also Democrats.

See those endorsement letters HERE.

Notable is the fact that Profeta and Deluca, who have a history of conflict on many issues, are agreeing to endorse McGehee.

Jerry Ryan
Missing from the list is former Mayor Jerry Ryan, also a Democrat who held the job from 1998 to 2000 and most recently served again on the Township Committee from 2009 to the end of 2015. We reached out to ask if he is endorsing McGehee and have yet to hear back.
