15-YEAR-OLD ASSAULTED AND ROBBED ON IRVINGTON AVENUE LEADS POLICE WEEK

From Maplewood Police today:

April 11, 2017; Robbery; At approximately 10 AM, a 15 year old Maplewood resident was walking on Irvington Ave with a group of juveniles when he was assaulted and his money taken.  South Orange and Maplewood Police responded and stopped several juveniles in the area.  A 13 and 16 year old from Newark and a 14 year old from Irvington were taken into custody and charged with the robbery following an investigation on scene.

April 12, 2017; Robbery; At approximately 4:45 PM a 24 year old male was in Maplecrest Park when he was assaulted by 24 year old Ondre Weekes of Maplewood.  Mr Weekes then stole his phone and fled the scene.  Officers were able to locate Mr Weekes later in the evening and take him into custody.   He was charged with the robbery and transported to the Essex County Jail.

April 12, 2017; Theft; At approximately 6:30 PM a female dropped her wallet while getting into her vehicle at Wawa.  A male later identified as Rory Holden, age 47 picked up the wallet and walked away.  He was later stopped by officers and found to be in possession of the wallet.  He was taken into custody and charged with theft.

April 13, 2017; Bicycle Theft; During the daytime hours a bicycle that was secured on the Maplewood Ave side of the train station was stolen.

April 17, 2017; Bicycle Theft;  An unsecured bicycle was stolen from the rear yard of a home on Van Ness Terr.  Through investigation it is believed that the theft took place on 4/16 at approximately 8 PM.
