Well, he was indicted on the charges on Wednesday as Associated Press reports below:
MAPLEWOOD, N.J. (AP) - The operator of a northern
New Jersey debt adjustment firm stands accused of defrauding hundreds of
customers by promising them big reductions in their monthly bills and
then stealing their money in a Ponzi scheme.
The indictment handed up Wednesday by a state grand jury charges Germain Theodore with theft by failure to make required disposition of property received. Authorities say Theodore stole more than $250,000 from more than 200 clients during a five month period in 2013.
Authorities say the 34-year-old Maplewood man recruited customers for TGC Movement, his purported bill payment and debt consolidation business, by claiming he could reduce their monthly bills by 35 percent.
Theodore could face a lengthy prison sentence if convicted. A telephone number for him could not be located Wednesday, and it wasn't known if he's retained an attorney.
