JULY 4TH ARRESTS FOR FIREWORKS, POT TOP POLICE WEEK

From Maplewood Police today:

July 4, 2013: Possession of Fireworks; During the July 4th festivities at Memorial Park, two juveniles age 13 and 17 were observed by officers setting off 
fireworks.

The juveniles which were later identified as Irvington 
residents were also observed throwing the fireworks 
in the area where there was a large crowd creating a 
disturbance. The male juveniles were approached and placed under arrest. The 17 year old was also found to be in possession of marijuana packaged for 
sale.
  
Both were transported to MWPD Headquarters and later released to a guardianThe 13 year old was charged with possession of fireworks and the 17 year old was charged with possession of fireworks and possession of Marijuana with 
the intent to distribute by the Youth Aid Bureau.  

In other police news:

July 1, 2013: Motor Vehicle Theft; Sometime over the 
previous two days a Dodge was stolen from a parking lot at 50-58 Burnett Ave
 
July 3, 2013: Theft; During the daytime hours a locked 
bicycle was stolen from the Train Station.
 
July 3, 2013: Theft from Vehicle; During the overnight 
hours a vehicle parked in a driveway on 44th St was 
entered and a laptop and GPS unit were removed.
 
July 4, 2013: Theft; During the overnight hours a bicycle 
left unsecured in the backyard of a Burnett Ave residence was stolen.
 
July 7, 2013: Theft from Vehicle; At approximately 8:15, a 
resident of Suffolk Ave observed a male in the rear yard of 
their home and contacted the Police Department. Officers responded and spoke with the resident. The resident checked their yard and discovered 
there was a GPS unit and cash missing from their vehicle. The area was 
checked by Maplewood officers, but a suspect was unable to be 
located.
