MAPLEWOOD POSTAL CARRIER ROBBED AT GUNPOINT

From NJ.com:

A mail carrier was the victim of an armed robbery Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The U.S. Postal Service worker was on-duty delivering on the 200-block of Laurel Avenue, said Capt. Michael Marucci of the Maplewood police.

Around 4:30 p.m., he was approached by two males who displayed a gun and demanded money, said the captain.

The suspects took a phone and cash – and then fled on foot east down Laurel Avenue, Marucci added.

The mail carrier was unharmed, the captain said. The police were called at 4:51 p.m., authorities said.

Details of the incident – including the weapon the suspects showed – are being withheld due to an ongoing investigation, Marucci said. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Maplewood police detectives at (973) 762-3400.
