TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE TO APPROVE $10,000 BACK PAY DEAL WITH FIREFIGHTERS

This coming week's Township Committee meeting has been moved to Wednesday, Nov. 5 so as not to conflict with Election Night.

Among the busy agenda items -- which include a final vote on the controversial stray cat feeding program, parking changes around the new Maplewood Village post office site, approval of a new developer for the old post office site, and an agreement with South Orange to contract out our IT service to them -- is a little noticed deal with the Maplewood Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association.

The agreement will pay several firefighters back pay to the tune of more than $10,000 to settle a claim by the union that base pay was not properly adjusted.
