BIG TREE FALL CRUSHES CAR, CLOSES ROAD

Maplewood Police closed off a portion of Franklin Terrace near Irvington Avenue this morning after a large uprooted tree blocked the road and crushed a car, while blocking two others.

There were no apparent injuries, but DPW crews were on site to seek to remove the huge lumber and keep people away.

The tree also pulled down utility wires, which PSE&G was on the scene repairing.
