CHS STUDENT TWITTER ACCOUNTS RAISE RACE, GENDER AND SEXUAL ORIENTATION ISSUES

Columbia High School students are finding a new string of Twitter feeds targeting them via either their race or gender, with both supportive comments and views and some not so nice.

At least five new Twitter accounts, DearMaleCHS, DearWhiteCHS, DearFemaleCHS2, DearStraightCHS, and DearBlackCHS, have popped up in the past month or so, students say.

Many say they like the fact that gender and racial issues are being discussed, while others find some things offensive.

Among the examples: Warning, some are offensive.




 








 

Students who spoke with us, off record, said the accounts have managed to raise important issues, but contend others have used them for racists and angry comments.
