CHRISTIE STATE TRANSIT FUNDING HALT AFFECTS $13 MILLION MAPLEWOOD PROJECTS

Gov. Chris Christie's order to halt some $3 billion worth of transportation related projects statewide after his request for a gas tax increase was denied by the state legislature has halted more than $13 million worth of projects in Maplewood.

But all of them relate to the NJ Transit Hilton bus garage at 1450 Springfield Ave. near the Irvington city line.

The funding shutdown was to begin today. But bus and train service is not affected.

See the statewide list of $2.7 billion worth of NJ Transit projects that are stopped HERE. Another $775 million worth of N.J. Transportation Department projects that were halted did not include any in Maplewood.

Specifically for Maplewood, the funding halt affects the following projects related to the garage:

1. Maplewood Hilton Garage HVAC Unit Replacement - $2.5 million.
2. Maplewood Facility Roof Replacement Phase 1 - $1.6 million.
3. Bus Operations Control Center Upgrade - $2.5 million.
4. Maplewood Facility Roof Replacement Phase 2 - $6 million.
5. Hilton Garage Underground Storage Tank Replacement - $1.7 million.
