CHS STUDENTS BUSTED ON POT POSSESSION, TEACHER PURSE THEFT

Two Columbia High School students were arrested on separate incidents of marijuana possession and alleged theft of a teacher's purse this week.

Police reports obtained by Maplewoodian.com indicate both incidents occurred on Tuesday, Dec. 6, and resulted in the arrest of two students.

The first incident involved the theft of a purse from a teacher's classroom that was later found in a boy's bathroom. The teacher reported the theft occurred during 6th period and her purse contained paperwork, credit cards, an IPhone 6, and $1,000 cash.

Another CHS administrator found the purse and police reported that surveillance cameras indicated a male student had been seen taking it into the bathroom.

The student was found and taken into custody, charged with theft. As a juvenile, his identity was not revealed.

The same day, another student, a 17-year-old male, was arrested after an administrator noticed an odor of marijuana as the student passed by in the hall. The administrator searched the student's backpack and found a jar of marijuana and one marijuana cigarette. The student was charged with possession of marijuana.

School district officials did not respond to requests for comment.
