GAS ODOR EVACUATES SOUTH ORANGE MIDDLE SCHOOL

South Orange Middle School was briefly evacuated Thursday after an odor of gas was discovered. But students were let in shortly after.

See the letter sent to parents by Principal Lynn Irby below:
Dear Parents,
Today, the smell of gas was reported, and as a necessary precaution we notified the South Orange Fire Department. The building was evacuated while the premises were investigated. Upon receiving clearance from the SOFD, staff and students returned to the building.
I’d like to commend our students for a great job on exiting the building quickly and quietly! I am also grateful to the SOFD for their quick response and assistance.
Thank you
