MAPLEWOOD COLLAPSE SCENE WINDS DOWN, BUT PRESS LINGER
Things started winding down in Maplewood Village just after 1 p.m. as emergency vehicles left the scene outside Coda restaurant where one person was killed and another hospitalized Friday morning after an internal collapse.
Police reported four people were inside the structure attempting to work on a new stairwell into the basement when it gave way, trapping two construction workers.
Most of Maplewood Avenue and other side streets, including the entire stretch of Baker from Maplewood Avenue to Valley Street, were shutdown for hours. The building was issued an unsafe for occupancy order.
