The School Board is hoping to sign Superintendent Brian Osborne to a new five-year contract when his current agreement ends at the end of June, according to School Board President Beth Daugherty.
But the new state superintendent salary cap limits his annual pay to about $175,000, well below his previous $220,000 salary.
Daugherty said the negotiations are underway and hopes that a new deal can be done to keep him in his job. You may recall that Osborne had been offered a job in the Ann Arbor, Mi., School District in 2013, but turned it down.
You can hear our full interview podcast with Daugherty, which also includes discussion of the newest school district budget, teachers union contract talks and other issues, on Wednesday morning. Check back then.
