DELUCA AND OTHER LOCAL OFFICIALS TO MEET WITH NJ TRANSIT TODAY ON MIDTOWN DIRECT DIVERISON PLAN

The NJ Transit Midtown Direct diversion to Hoboken saga continues today with the transit agency apparently agreeing to meet with Mayor Vic Deluca and other local officials at 1 p.m. today following several delays and cancelled meetings.

Deluca posted the following on his Facebook page:

Sheena Collum and I are happy to report that NJ Transit has confirmed the Wednesday afternoon meeting with elected officials representing communities on the Morris & Essex train line.
We will suggest:
1. More direct NYC trains from 7am to 9am and in the evening
2. Train transfer options at Newark Broad St. either to Montclair direct line or through Northeast Corridor lines at Newark Penn
3. Transfer options at Hoboken that include ferry service to 39th St with cross honoring NJT tickets
4. Path cross honoring NJT tickets at all NYC stations - Christopher, 14th, 23rd & 33rd with NJT personnel assigned to each station
5. Express bus service - already planned in South Orange - need bus option for Maplewood (see my other post)
6. NJT personnel assigned to South Orange and Maplewood train stations during rush hour during the first week of construction
7. Communication plan with commuters so everyone knows their travel options.
And more request we come up with before Wednesday.

Stay tuned!
