REASSESSMENT INFO ONLINE

You likely received your property reassessment letter this week. This is not a revaluation but more of a fine-tuning of the reval.

Lots of good info on it at the reassessment company's website HERE.

WATER COMPANY INEPTNESS LEAVES HOMES DRY

The water company ineptness continued on Yale Street as at least two homes were left without water service last night after N.J. American Water finished their work digging up the street and replacing some pipes for the day, but failed to check and see if homes they disrupted had water.

Two homes did not.

So several workers had to return and finally got the water back on last night. This is not the type of poor service we need from monopoly utilities.

TOWN HALL PHONES OUT

For the second time in a week, the town hall phone lines are down.

This from the Township website:

Maplewood Town Hall Telephone Lines are Not Working

If you are trying to reach town hall by telephone today Thursday 12/13 you will not be able to reach your party.
Town Hall's telephone service to the building is temporarily not working. The T-1 line failure has been reported to our service provider and they will respond within three (3) hours or sooner. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience. Internet access through our website is still available through www.maplewoodnj.org .

A NEW DEBACLE

So now we have N.J. American Water, which did not notify us they would close off Yale Street and be digging it up all week. We did get a notice water would be shut off briefly, but not this.

And, with the township failing to clear the leaves that were scheduled for pick up more than a week ago, we have leaves being trampled and pushed around by worker trucks that are blocking the street so the leaves can't even be picked up anyway.

GIGI'S CUPCAKES OPENS - SEE OUR INTERVIEW WITH GIGI

Maplewood's newest goodies shop opened Wednesday at 1925 Springfield Ave., Gigi's Cupcakes.

We spoke with Gigi herself, who discussed why she took over the location, why her cupcakes are so good and her ribbon-cutting opening this Saturday 11-7.

We also tried a few of the mini-cakes and found out why they are so good, they are filled with lots of surprises and extra treats. Like cookie dough flavor with real cookie dough inside. Yum!
