SPRINGFIELD AVENUE PARTNERSHIP GETS MAPLEWOOD VILLAGE LEADER
PATCH reports:
Julie Doran, manager of the Maplewood Village Alliance (MVA), will step into a new role as manager of both the MVA and the Springfield Avenue Partnership (SAP), said Mayor Vic DeLuca Tuesday morning.
Vitrano announced last week she would step down at the end of June for personal reasons.
The two improvement districts will continue as separate entities with their own boards and budgets, with Doran heading both, said DeLuca.
The MVA and the SAP are special improvement districts that use funds from assessing commercial properties, as well as funding from the township, for capital improvement, facades, business recruitment and special events and marketing.

HK PROJECT PRESENTS SPECIAL MOVIE TONIGHT
Miss Representation
7:00pm – 9:00pm
Maplewood Movie Theater 155 Maplewood Ave. Maplewood, NJ
Miss Representation first premiered in the documentary competition at the Sundance Film Festival where it caught the eye of OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network. It made its television debut as part of the OWN documentary film club in October 2011, with over 1.3 million people tuning in to its multiple airings. Additional screenings with corporations, non-profits, religious groups, government organizations and communi-ties are happening every day all over the world.
Written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Miss Representation exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film challenges the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself.
Miss Representation includes stories from teenage girls and provocative interviews with politicians, journalists, entertainers, activists and academics like Condoleezza Rice, Lisa Ling, Nancy Pelosi, Katie Couric, Rachel Maddow, Rosario Dawson, Jackson Katz, Jean Kilbourne, and Gloria Steinem. The film offers startling facts and statistics that will leave audiences shaken and armed with a new perspective. www.missrepresentation.org
MAPLEWOODIAN.COM SOFTBALL LOSES A CLOSE, SHORT ONE
The Maplewoodian.com girls softball team lost a close one Monday night to HK Project, 5-4, after coming back late from a tough deficit.
It also did not help that the game was called after only five innings due to a 90-minute time limit, but whose complaining.
