It looks like the Board of Education is quietly updating its No Smoking policy tonight to include vapor cigarettes and E cigarettes.
These smokeless smokes have come under scrutiny in recent months, including in California where the debate has turned up the discussion.
The proposal, below, also expands the locations banning smoking related to school events and institutes a potential penalty for violators that could require them to take a smoking informational health course.
See the proposed new policy below that is up for a review at tonight's school board meeting at 7:30 p.m. It essentially says that whereever smoking is not allowed on school grounds or at school events, the restriction will expand to include the E smokes.
The entire agenda is HERE.

SCHOOL BOARD TO CONSIDER PARCC TEST OPT-OUT PROPOSAL TONIGHT
The Board of Education plans to vote tonight on a controversial proposal that would allow parents to have their children opt out of the PARCC tests, which have drawn fire for taking up weeks of school time and adding to the already over-hyped use of standardized tests.
The board debated the issue earlier this month, with some opposed to it and others saying parents should have the right to decide.

WAS YOUR MAIL UNDELIVERED LAST WEEK? POST OFFICE DENIES A PROBLEM
If you are among those who did not get mail delivery for a few days last week, with no explanation, well, that lack of information continued as we contacted the U.S. Postal Service and they seemed dumbfounded.
George Flood, a spokesperson for U.S. Postal Service Northeast Area, said he looked into it and talked to the area postmaster who said things were fine.
"He indicated that 100% of the routes are going out, so if there is an individual issue, it would lead me to believe that there may be some safety issues involved access to the mailbox, things like that,” Flood told us. “If there is an individual issue they should reach out to the post office.”
He said it had nothing to do with the Maplewood Village post office move from 160 Maplewood Ave. to 195 Maplewood Ave., noting that our mail is now delivered out of a Union location.
Not much of an excuse. He did offer some contacts for future problems, saying people who have delivery problems down the road should call 973-763-5841 or 732-819-3260.
Thanks a lot!
