The State of New Jersey last week issued its annual School Report Cards for public schools based on 2013-2014 school year stats.
The review of Columbia High School offered some great news.
Among the findings:
* 55% of students achieved a combined 1550 SAT score, above the statewide average of 44.6%
* CHS students exceeded the target pass rates for math, biology, language arts, graduation rates and AP testing.
See the entire CHS report HERE.
But the news was not good for all of the schools, specifically in the areas of language arts and math proficiency for minorities.
The state found that the percentage of black students found proficient in languae arts was below the target levels at Maplewood Middle School, South Orange Middle School, and Clinton and Jefferson schools, while whites at those and all other schools reached the target levels.
In math, the story was similar with black students found proficient at levels below the targets set for Clinton, Jefferson, Seth Boyden and Maplewood Middle School.
