MEMORIAL PARK SHOOTING WAS FALSE, BUT WHO STOLE THE CASH REGISTER?

We told you on Feb. 1 about a reported shooting in Memorial Park. Now it turns out the story was false.

From Maplewood Police today:

February 1, 2015; False Report; At approximately 8 PM, Officers responded to a Yale St residence on a past tense report of an assault with a firearm.  The spoke with the victim who reported that while walking on Baker St, a male jumped out in front of her, pointed a handgun at her and then pulled the trigger twice.  The handgun reportedly made a clicking noise, but did not fire and then the male ran into Memorial Park.  Through investigation it was determined that incident did not occur and the reporting individual recanted their story.

In other crime news this week:

February 2, 2015; Recovered Stolen Vehicle; At approximately 7:45 AM officers responded to Ohio St on a reported suspicious vehicle.  The vehicle was determined to be stolen out of Union and was turned over to the victim.
 
February 6, 2015; Theft; Between 2:30 and 7:00 AM, four tires/rims were removed from Toyota Venza parked in a driveway on Prospect St.  The vehicle also had a broken front window.
 
February 8, 2015; Burglary; At approximately 1:45 AM, officers responded to an alarm activation at Express Laundry on Springfield Ave.  Upon their arrival, they found that the premise had been entered and that the cash register had been stolen.  Through investigation the actor was identified as 48 year old David Pascavage of Irvington.  On 2/9, Mr Pascavage was charged with the burglary, taken into custody at his home, processed and then remanded to Essex County Jail.
