TOWNSHIP MOVES TOWARD ALLOWING CURBSIDE HOOPS

The Township Committee on Tuesday approved on first reading an ordinance (below) that would lift the ban on sports equipment placed on curbside for use in the street from April through December.

The proposal follows the uproar last fall over restrictions that had barred such use. The TC agreed to put the new parameters in place after April 1, but said it would not work during winter months because of snow removal and other concerns about blocking access.

The ordinance will be up for public comment and a final vote on Feb. 17.
