HK Project Newsletter | March 12, 2013

A Year of Positive Change

Dear Friends,
2012 was a transformative year for HK Project.  As a matter of fact, at the beginning of the year we weren’t even known as HK Project.  We were the HK Community Fund.  Our team worked hard this year to refine our message to make it easier to understand our mission and vision.   Here is our restated mission:

HK Project fosters a sense of belonging by encouraging residents to get involved.
HK Project addresses the needs of the community by providing a framework for public service,
charity, education, and arts and cultural enrichment for the Maplewood/South Orange area.

However, I believe our tag line says it all: “Engaging Community”. We provide a variety of opportunities for you to become engaged in our community, including attending our Studio B events, participating in our workshops, volunteering within our community and supporting our giving activities.  However, nothing personifies our goal of "Engaging Community" like our HK C.A.R.E. (Community Assistance & Resources for Emergencies) program.  Because of the generosity of the wonderful folks of our community, we raised thousands and thousands of dollars for three local families who faced crises this past year.  This was truly inspiring.  It should be noted that the families receive 100% of your donations to HK C.A.R.E.  in addition, HK Project provides a level of matched donations.

We need your help to continue serving this community, whether it be sponsoring Maplewoodstock, expanding our adult education workshops or awarding scholarships to local students. As is the case for most not-for-profits, we derive the bulk of our funding from individual donations.  To allow HK Project to continue to provide services and programming into 2013 and beyond, (and we would like to do even more), please consider making a donation today.  No amount is too big or too small. Your donation of $25, $50, $100 or any amount goes a long way to keeping YOUR community organization afloat. If you would like to donate, please visit our website at www.hkproject.org/donate or mail your donation to HK Project, 515 Valley Street, Suite 130, Maplewood NJ 07040.

Take a moment to read about just some of the ways we worked with, and for, the Maplewood/South Orange Community in 2012. Thank you again for continuing to support us, and for being such an amazing community.

Tom Kerns
Founder and President
