Why? Township Administrator Joe Manning said via email the slide, which has a covered, enclosed approach, was closed due to safety concerns after some injuries:
One and possibly another child hit their heads using the
enclosed slide in the past two pool seasons. We decided to
stop using that side until we determine if there is
a design fix we can implement to eliminate the possibility
of it happening again. It will not be open for the rest of this season.
You may recall the slides were installed back in 2012 at a hefty cost that led in part to a 30% fee increase that year. The pool management will review the issue before next season.
