A Columbia High School student who was part of a field trip to South Mountain Reservation this past week was left behind and had to reach out to a parent to be picked up, according to sources in the district.
The incident occurred on Wednesday or Thursday, according to sources.
Asked about the incident, District Spokesperson Suzanne Turner declined to provide any information, stating via email: "As you know, we cannot comment on inquiries regarding specific students or staff members."
But the district did inform school board members of the mistake in a note that indicated an administrator had to retrieve the student after the student reached out to a parent.
The field trip was also apparently never approved by the school board, with no record of it in any school board agendas dating back to the end of the 2015-2016 school year.
