The Board of Education will pay Superintendent John Ramos a $23,000 bonus according to a resolution that was approved, 8-0, with Board member Donna Smith absent at Monday night's meeting.
The resolution indicates Ramos reached most of the merit goals needed for the raise under his contract. Ramos' salary is $177,500 and he could have received more than $26,000 under his contract, which allows a bonus of up to 14.99% of his salary.
The board agreed to provide a bonus of $23,394.50, but offered no details on how it came to that amount.
It was voted on along with a slew of other items under the consent agenda and included no comment on his work or other discussion of why he deserved the bonus or how it came about. Johanna Wright mistakenly voted for the measure as it was part of the consent agenda, but her vote will be changed to abstained for the record at the next meeting, according to Business Administrator Paul Roth.
