BULLETIN BOARD PETITION IS OUT IN FORCE - SEE HOW TO HELP

We came across the anti-bulletin board folks at Saturday's Maplewood Art Walk.

The petition aimed at removing the glass-enclosed, key-locked and Village Alliance-controlled BB is gaining steam and aiming for a June presentation to the Township Committee.

You may recall, the Alliance ripped out the old, free, people-controlled bulletin board near the parking lot between the main post office and Village Coffee.

These folks want it back. And so do we.

I don't know if The Maplewoodian is suposed to be journalism or free forum opinion, but the facts in this "article" are way wrong. The Civic Association owns the bulletin board. The Village alliance doesn't "control" the board. there are six other "open" bulletin boards in Maplewood. and the oldboard was changed primarily because the "people controlled" bulletin board was not cleaned up by "the people" and also because shoppers were asking for a directory of businesses and restaurants in town.

People are free to post. The village alliance and the civic association will open the board for posters.
