The Board of Education again delayed any update on the claims of harassment, intimidation and bullying (HIB) against Columbia High School baseball coach Joe Fischetti.
The district had indicated that Superintendent John Ramos would provide a recommendation on the issue at Monday's board meeting. But none was forthcoming during Ramos' report to the board or at any other time in the meeting.
The board on July 6 received
the final report from outside investigator Leroy Seitz, who was paid
$5,000 to review the district's own review that found Fischetti had
committed acts of bullying. But that
report has not been released.
A public information request for the report by Maplewoodian.com was denied in a letter dated July 18 that stated, "the report is not subject to disclosure since the report contains information and opinions that are considered advisory, consultative, and deliberative and therefore exempt from disclosure pursuant to N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1.1"
Ramos has declined comment on the report, but had told others
involved in the case he planned to give a recommendation based on the
report at Monday's meeting.
The board's next regular meeting is set for Aug. 22.
