PATCH reports Mayor Vic De Luca opposed the Recreation Department releasing the proposed 30% pool fee hike being released before the Township Committee voted on the increase Tuesday.
He reportedly said Tuesday, "It was an error by the Recreation Department."
New Recreation Director Keith Knudsen e-mailed residents the new fees, which average more than 30% over the 2011 rates, on Friday, Feb. 3. The notice included information on registering for the pool this year. The list of rates also included in the e-mail did not state that the fees had yet to be approved.
Maplewoodian.com first posted the new fees on Friday.
But, the Township Committee agenda, also posted online Friday, included the same list of new higher rates.
When the Township Committee approved the higher rates Tuesday, they did it unanimously and without any opposing public comment, according to PATCH.
