Star-Ledger reports today:
TRENTON — New Jersey taxpayers will pick up a $19,624 bill for Gov. Chris Christie’s safety last month while he was in Tampa for the Republican National Convention.
The figure includes costs incurred by the state troopers who provided security for Christie when he was in Tampa from Aug. 26 to Aug. 31, according to spokesman Michael Drewniak. Christie delivered the convention’s keynote address Aug. 28.
The number is a tally of security costs related to Christie’s travel that are above and beyond the salaries of troopers who follow Christie around the clock.
