FIVE BURGLARIES AND STRUCK BICYCLIST MARK POLICE WEEK

Maplewood Police released this today:


October 16, 2012, Burglary;  A Berkley St resident reports that they returned home and found several items missing from their home.  The front door was also found open.  The home was entered sometime during the day and several pieces of electronics removed.

October 16, 2012, Burglary; A vacant home on Parker Ave was entered and copper pipes were removed sometime over the last three weeks.  The theft was discovered by the realtor.

October 17, 2012, Burglary; An Essex Ave resident reports that sometime during the day their residence was entered through an unlocked window and several electronic devices were removed from the home.

October 19, 2012, Burglary; A Union Ave resident reports that sometime during the day their residence was entered and electronic devices and a camera were removed.  The actor or actors entered the home by pushing in a window air conditioning unit.

October 19, 2012, Pedestrian Struck, At approximately 8 AM, officers responded on report of a pedestrian being struck.  A fourteen year old male had been struck at the intersection of Springfield Ave and Tuscan St.  The operator of the vehicle was making a left onto Springfield Ave from Tuscan St and struck the juvenile who was crossing. The driver was issued a summons and the juvenile was transported to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center for evaluation of a leg injury.  The accident is still under investigation.

October 21, 2012, Burglary, A Courter Ave resident reported that a window to their detached garage was removed and two bicycles taken from the garage.  The incident took place sometime between 4 PM on 10/20 and 10 AM on 10/21.

October 22, 2012, Assist SOPD, At Approximately 1045 AM officers responded to the area of Richmond Ave in South Orange to assist in locating two burglary suspects.  Two males were observed running from a home.  Maplewood officers assisted with the search and both individuals were located and arrested by South Orange PD.  The actors were a fourteen and seventeen year from Irvington.
