ST. JAMES GATE FIGHT INCIDENT COMPLAINT REPORT RELEASED

Maplewoodian.com has obtained the complaint filed against James Meade by Ethan Kresofsky for the alleged incident at St. James Gate last week.

More on the incident HERE.

As noted in our previous story, Kresofsky has said in other forums that he was allegedly called an anti-gay slur by Meade, but the complaint makes no mention of this. It notes that the alleged victim was treated at the hospital and released.

The complaint is below.

Maplewood Municipal Court officials made clear that the complaint is in no way an indication of guilt or innocence and that no charges have been filed against Meade for any criminal activity nor has he been arrested.

Due to a conflict of interest with Maplewood's municipal judge, the case has been transferred to the Bloomfield Municipal Court, where a hearing will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 24.

It kind of stands out that the biggest factor that so many are outraged about this alleged assault is that it was a bias crime against Mr. Kresofsky, who is gay. Why would the complaint filed with the police that was signed by Kresofsky make no mention of the alleged slur considering the possibility of additional charges?

Maybe Kresofsky didn't realize that in order to elevate the complaint as a hate crime, the slur would have had to have been specified in his report? Or that the officer didn't need to know the cause of the assault and didn't ask how it started? Nonetheless, a bar brawl allegedly instigated by a bartender whose job is to be a mediator is not a good thing. We'll see what happens at the hearing.
