LIBRARY ALCOHOL SALES WINS FIRST VOTE

The Township Committee on Tuesday took the first step toward allowing alcohol sales at events inside the Maplewood Library, voting 4-1 on an ordinance that would legalize the practice.

TC Member Marlon Brownlee was the lone vote against the measure, which must be approved again on a second vote in two weeks before becoming law.

Brownlee had also voted against the institution of a beer garden at Maplewoodstock, a practice that began last summer and will continue at this year's event.
