It looks like the owners of Highland Place, who have had their liquor license put up for auction for a failure to pay taxes, have a reprieve until January, according to state officials.
The liquor license was set to be auctioned off Thursday with a minimum bid of $300,000.
But the Department of Taxation website notes it has been postponed.
As we noted last week, under the state liquor license
restrictions, which are based on population, Maplewood is allowed to
have six liquor license venues to serve alcoholic beverages. In addition
to the Highland Place license, there are others owned by St. James
Gate, Coda, Verjus, and another "pocket" license, which is not being
used at the present time.
