HIGHLAND PLACE LIQUOR LICENSE PRICE INCREASED

We told you weeks ago that the liquor license formerly under control of Highland Place, which has been shutdown due to tax-related problems, will be auctioned off on December 10th by the state Alcohol Beverage Control Board.

At Tuesday night's Township Committee meeting, Township Clerk Liz Fritzen informed the TC that the minimum bid had been increased by the state from $50,000 to $300,000.

"Which I feel is fair market value for the Township of Maplewood," Fritzen said.

TC members also said under the state liquor license restrictions, which are based on population, Maplewood is allowed to have six liquor license venues to serve alcoholic beverages. In addition to the Highland Place license, there are others owned by St. James Gate, Coda, Verjus, and another "pocket" license, which is not being used at the present time.
