Letter From Principal Frye Regarding Dismissal
I hope your child enjoyed their first day of school and had many great stories to tell of the amazing activities they were experiencing in their classrooms. Between the awesome conversations and thoughtful activities, the students truly seemed so excited to be back in the fold of learning, playing and having great educational experiences.
As with any structured organization, responsibility and ownership are just as important as constructive reflection and purposeful feedback. To that end, I wanted to take a moment to both thank you all for your support thus far and offer my sincerest apology that a policy change caused some of you to experience delays and frustration during dismissal.
It was never my intention for such delays to have any kind of diminutive effect on the tremendous positivity generated throughout the school day. I can only hope that in moving forward you know that your voices matter, are heard and that I am committed to ensuring the safest and most efficient means to exit children from the building and back into your care. We will continue to work on the dismissal process, and as a community, discuss procedures that the teachers, parents and students can truly embrace.
Until further notice, please adhere to the following changes in dismissal:
A. Please complete the emergency contact form and return that to the school as soon as possible.
B. Adults picking up students will not be required to show an ID if they are on the emergency contact list or you have sent in a note with the child that denotes the name and phone number (if known) of that adult.
C. All classes will have an assigned area in front of the building or in the parking lot to the right of the entrance for pick-up.
D. These areas will be clearly marked with the teacher’s name and grade level.
– Kindergarten will be assigned to the area outside of the auditorium.
– Multiage will be equitably dispersed across the front of the building.
– Grade 3 will be on the lawn located to the left of the multiage classes.
– Grade 4 will be near the front of the parking lot.
– Grade 5 will be near the back of the parking lot.
E. Older siblings should pick up younger siblings and either return to their line to meet their parents or meet the parent at a designated spot.
F. Bus students will continue to go to the Auditorium.
G. Onsite YMCA aftercare students will continue to go to the cafeteria.
Our dedicated Safety Patrol will be there to support you and your students!
I look forward to many great days to come!
Sincerely,
Damion Frye
