POST-ELECTION UNITY GATHERING OFFERS ANGER, HOPE AND ACTION

Dozens of residents gathered at The Woodland Friday night for what was labeled a chance to "Come Together and Move Forward."

The event was a reaction to the shock and, in many cases, anger over the election of Donald Trump as president on Tuesday.

Organized by the Township and the Maplewood Artists Collective, the event included speakers urging both action and unity, as well as ways to sign up for several progressive and support groups ranging from Planned Parenthood to the Community Coalition on Race. The Township donated the Woodland space for the gathering at no cost.

Many youngsters were also in attendance, with some playing and signing posters with messages of hope and action.

Among those in attendance were Mayor Vic Deluca, Township Committee members Greg Lembrich and Nancy Adams, Committeeman-elect Frank McGehee and his Republican challenger Mike Summersgill.
