It is primary day in New Jersey today, and in Maplewood's Township Committee election.
But with two candidates running unopposed for the Democratic TC nomination, and one candidate seeking the Republican nomination, no local battle is expected.
Incumbent Vic Deluca and challenger Dean Dafis are vying for the two Democratic nominations for Township Committee. Deluca is seeking re-election, while Dafis is running for the seat being vacated by India Larrier, who has chosen not to run again.
On the Republican side, just one candidate, Michael Summersgill, is on the ballot for the GOP nomination. He ran and lost last year in the general election to TC member Frank McGehee.
But while the TC primary campaign is subdued, the governor's race has a strong primary battle with six candidates running for the Democratic nomination and five Republicans in the GOP primary battle. The two winners will meet in the November election.
All 80 state Assembly seats are also up for grabs.
If you are not sure where to vote, reach out to the Township Clerk at 973-762-8120, ext. 2100. Polls are open until 8 p.m.
