PRO-ISRAEL, PRO PEACE GROUP AT LIBRARY TONIGHT

Amy Levin, Northern New Jersey Field Organizer for the pro-Israel, pro-peace organization J Street will speak in Maplewood, NJ, on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Maplewood Memorial Library from 7:30 to 9:00 pm.

Levin will discuss J Street's program for Northern New Jersey designed to support President Obama's efforts for a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians.

Levin will explain how local citizens can make a real contribution to peace and security by taking part in J Street's program of local citizen actions in coordination with J Street's national initiatives, especially its annual meeting in September.

J Street supported President Obama's visit to Israel and the West Bank in March and the current efforts by Secretary of State Kerry to restart peace talks between the Israelis and Palestinians.

The theme of Levin's talk borrows from the words of President Obama in Jerusalem: "Peace is Necessary. Peace is Just. Peace is Possible."

Levin has a Master’s degree in Religious Studies from New York University. She has written on religious issues and has been to Israel several times. She was a field organizer for the Obama campaign in Florida in the 2012 election.

Admission to the meeting is free and open to the public.

The meeting is sponsored by South Mountain Peace Action of Maplewood and South Orange. SMPA is a long-time supporter of a two-state solution.
