May 6-7 2013; Thefts from Autos; During the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 7, 2013, unknown persons entered and rummaged through cars parked in the driveways of four different residences located on Plymouth Ave and one residence on Burnett Terrace. During the same time period unknown persons entered detached garages at two separate locations on Plymouth Ave and removed a bicycle from each. One of the bicycles was recovered on the premises it was taken from and the other bicycle was recovered on a neighboring property. In all instances where a car or garage was entered it was determined that those premises were left unlocked. The proceeds of the car entries ranged from small amounts of cash to cell phones to work related items. Residents are urged to secure their vehicles and detached garages when not in use. The Maplewood Police Detective Bureau is investigating and there are no suspects at this time. May 8, 2013; Theft; At approximately 615 PM a 18 year old female was walking on Tuscan Rd. A light colored vehicle pulled up and stopped near her. Two males exited the vehicle and took her cell phone out of her hand before re-entering the vehicle and fleeing the scene. The victim was not harmed. May 8, 2013; Theft; At approximately 615 PM, a 16 year old male was asked directions by three males in a light colored vehicle. When he approached the vehicle, one of the males grabbed the victim’s headphones and the vehicle drove away. The victim was not harmed. May 8, 2013; Burglary; During the morning hours, unknown actor/s entered a home on Elmwood Ave and removed several pieces of jewelry. May 8, 2013; Burglary; Between 5/5 and 5/8 a garage on Lancaster Ave was entered and a bicycle removed. All incidents are currently under investigation by the Detective Bureau. Residents are asked to practice good crime prevention techniques and secure their garages and automobiles when left unattended.
