Babygate: What You Really Need to Know about Pregnancy and Parenting in the American Workplace.

7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Main Library – In Babygate, by Dina Bakst, Phoebe Taubman and Elizabeth Gedmark, three legal experts share practical tips, real-life stories and key legal information to spotlight the protections expecting and new parents have (and don’t have) in the workplace. This guide covers everything from morning sickness and maternity leave, to confronting discrimination on the job. With a clear, often witty, interpretation of the law and various employment policies, the authors explain how workers can advocate for themselves and protect their jobs and paychecks while welcoming their little bundles of joy.

Author Elizabeth Gedmark will give a talk about the book, and sign copies, which will be for sale. Ms Gedmark is a Law Fellow at A Better Balance: The Work and Family Legal Center.  This program is co-sponsored by Maplewood Library and Mothers & More.
