Even as his team took a 15-point lead into the half, Ridge's Kevin
Doolan knew better than to assume the game was over. The senior guard
was well aware of how explosive Columbia was and that a rally was
coming.
“We watched them on tape and they're so explosive. I was
really surprised when we were up 15,” Doolan said. “And then once they
started coming back, then I was like 'ok, now we got to kick it back up
and have the seniors take leadership.'”
Second-seeded Ridge saw a
17-point lead disappear, but never fell behind as Doolan and company
managed to hold on and come up big on the foul line for a 48-39 victory
over third-seeded Columbia in the NJSIAA/ShopRite North Jersey, Section
2, Group 4 semifinals last night in Basking Ridge.
