SUSPICIOUS MAN APPROACHING 10-YEAR-OLD LEADS POLICE WEEK

From Maplewood Police today:

March 5, 2014; Suspicious Incident; A 10 year old child 
playing in front of a home on Edgewood Pl reported 
that a white male with a shaved head and operating 
an Orange VW Beetle made a motion to him.  He 
believed that the male was trying to get him to 
come closer to the vehicle. The child reported 
this to his parents and the vehicle left the area.

March 10, 2014; Theft from Auto: During the overnight hours a Franklin Ave 
resident reports that a garage door opener was removed from an unlocked vehicle 
in the driveway. 

March 10, 2014; Between 10 AM and 3 PM the window of a vehicle parked on 
Camptown Rd was broken and several electric items stolen.  

March 13, 2014; Theft of Auto Parts: During the overnight hours, the tires and 
rims were removed from a vehicle parked in the driveway of a Clinton Ave 
residence.

March 16, 2014; Recovered Stolen Motor Vehicle: At approximately 330 PM, Officer 
Klebaur and Officer Alvarez were patrolling in the area of Parker Ave and 
Irvington Ave.  While doing so they located a vehicle that was reported stolen 
out of Michigan.  Officers were able follow the vehicle a short distance before 
stopping it and arresting the operator, Elliot Gibson, age 46 of Los Angeles 
California.  Mr Gibson was charged with receiving stolen property.
