WHAT DID PSE&G FORGET TO TELL THE SUMMER KIDS PROGRAM ABOUT THAT GAS LINE?

It looks like someone (PSE&G perhaps) forgot to tell the South Orange Maplewood Adult School summer program for kids that a gas line was being replaced at South Orange Middle School where its classes are being held.

See this note to the parents of those students that gives them the bad news about how it will "greatly affect" their coming and going from classes:

TO: Summer Program Families

We have received notice from the township of South Orange that PSEG is replacing a gas line along the far end of the parking lot of South Orange Middle School.

This project is going to greatly affect dropping off and picking up your children

from our South Orange Middle School location. We have spent a great deal of time trying to figure out a contingency plan that would ensure safe drop off and pick up and have come up with the following:

 Drop Off 

The parking lot will still be accessible via Ridgewood Road. However, on any given day, certain sections of the parking lot will be closed or coned off to protect everyone from the work zone.   Please follow the instructions of the security guard or police officer present. These traffic patterns may change daily depending on the section that PSEG will be working on.  It may be a good idea to park in an alternate location and walk your child/children to our building. Parking on Tillou Road, Beech Spring Road or Highland Road and walking across Ridgewood Road is an option. Another option is to park on Meadowbrook Lane (at the bottom of Flood's Hill) and walk over.

 Pick Up

If you are picking up any time OTHER THAN THE END OF OUR DAY AT 2:40pm, you should also follow the instructions above.As always, your child/children will be brought to the back entryway where they will wait for you to pick them up. If you are picking up at the end of the day at 2:40pm, you will still have to park and come in the cafeteria to sign your child/children out. However, the limited access at that entrance will not make it possible to accommodate the number of cars that arrive at pick up time. See above about alternate areas to park.  Please take into account that this will add extra time to your drop off and pick up. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
