MAPLEWOOD POOL CELEBRATES 50 YEARS

The Maplewood Pool celebrated 50 years on Saturday with a great event that included music, free ice cream, a diving exhibition and honoring of the original charter members who were among the first pool members in 1966.

Among the highlights was Township Committee member Greg Lembrich jumping from the top of the famed diving tower.

Others told the story of how the land was acquired from Winchester Gardens by local residents, not the Township. Some said rules were even stricter back then, with lifeguards tossing you out for the day if you ran on the cement.
