TWO ARMED ROBBERIES TOP POLICE BLOTTER

This just in from Maplewood Police



February 25, 2013; Robbery; at about 8pm two Columbia High School students, who were walking home from a basket ball game on Parker Ave, were approached by two male subjects in their late teens near the intersection of Richmond Ave. One of the male subjects, who was reported to be in the possession of a hand gun, asked one of the two students for her cell phone. The student turned over her cell phone at which time the two male subjects left the scene on foot eastbound on Parker Ave. Both subjects were described as black males each 6.ft in height with thin builds.


March 1, 2013; Robbery; At 415 AM, a 43 year old, female Newark resident was walking in the area of Irvington Ave and Norman Rd was robbed at gun point. Two males exited a black SUV and ran up to the victim.  One of the males demanded her purse.  When she refused she was punched, a handgun was displayed and then her purse was taken from her.  The actors then re-entered the SUV which fled West on Irvington Ave.  The victim refused medical attention.


February 23, 2013; Burglary; During the daytime hours, a home on Franklin Ave was entered and electronics and jewelry were taken.

February 25, 2013; Stolen Motor Vehicle; An Elmwood Ave resident reported that they are unable to locate their keys and that their Toyota Prius was stolen.

All incidents are currently under investigation by the Detective Bureau.  Residents are asked to practice good crime prevention techniques and secure their garages and automobiles when left unattended.
