BRAVO SUMMER BASEBALL, BUT NOT IN UNION

Here to praise the great coaches of the South Orange Maplewood Cougar baseball summer league. Our son has been in his first year of the league and they do a great job. Same goes to the parents who know how to behave and root on the kids, but do not fall to the level of yelling at umps or calling names.

Credit coach Chris Nomura and his staff who walk the fine line between being competitive, but supportive and require the same of kids and parents.

Sad to say I cannot say that about some folks in Union we came across last night at a game there. One in particular was calling the umpire names and denigrating our team.

When politely asked to ease up, he went on the attack against me. As I walked away, he added, "yeah, go away, this is our house, we act the way we want in our house."

Classy!
