COLUMBIA HIGH PRINCIPAL RETIRING

In case you missed it in the early days of summer, this from the school district:

Dr. Lovie Lilly, Principal of Columbia High School, announced her retirement, effective September 1, 2013.  Dr. Lilly has served as an instructional leader at Columbia High School for twelve years - Principal from 2007 to the present, Acting Principal for 2006-2007, and Assistant Principal from 2001-2006.
In sharing her announcement, Dr. Lilly said “SOMSD is an extraordinary learning community.  The time that I have spent as the educational leader at Columbia High School was the epitome of professional development and growth. My only hope is that our work served and supported all students. I extend my very best wishes to the CHS community!”
Superintendent Brian Osborne said “Dr. Lilly has earned the respect and gratitude of the entire South Orange and Maplewood community.  She took the helm as Acting Principal at a time when Columbia High School needed to be steered out of turbulence.  Her calm and confident leadership led to her selection as the permanent Principal for Columbia.  Now, seven years later, Columbia High School is a vastly improved center of learning, offering a host of opportunities for students to express their talents and skills, and providing support and encouragement for students to challenge themselves to their fullest.  I know the SOMSD staff, students, and families will all join me in thanking Dr. Lilly for her years of dedication, and in wishing her well in her retirement.”
